Origins

The Ragdoll is a recent race created in California -USA in the 60´s, from a crossing of the Sacred Cat of Burma (seal point) and a Persian target of long hair; the descendants of this even singular were crossed as wel withl a Burmes . He received the name of Ragdoll because when they are taken in arms it relaxes his muscles to similarity of a rag wrist. The Ragdoll grows up only Ragdoll to Ragdoll, without no crossing of other races. Ragdoll is only if its symbol of origin is in the genetic letter of the USA, done by Denny Dayton only recounting its origins from "Josephine".

Coat

Medium length, dense, smooth and silky and, accompanying the lines of the body and opening themselves when the cat walks. More length around the neck, doing frame to the contour of the face, giving the appearance of a bib. Short in the face and increasing the length from highest of the head towards shoulders and back. Medium length along in the lateral ones, back abdomen and quarters, short to semilong in the back legs. One moves and it forms wicks on the body following the movement of the cat.

Caracter

He is tame, docile, calm. They are patient and kind. He is never aggressive, it is said that it does not have character; quick attention to everything what happens around to his, but does not perturb him. It is an affectionate, complaciente and trusted cat to the point that can go away of the house with any person. Its life depends totally on its owner whom step by step follows. He is very homemade, does not please to leave much. The sound of its voice is smooth, are extremely hot. They adapt easily to any atmosphere, which means that it is possible to be traveled comfortably with them. In addition they are very intelligent and easy to educate. They can get to be very skilful in the hunting. The Ragdoll puppies are like small children, they observe it and they copy everything learning of these experiences. They are always of the good humor and its joy demonstrates to us that they are not bothered by our presence. To them they like to observe to us while we worked, adapts with the children and other animals very well (dogs, cats). It is not necessary to forget to deal with them like cats and not like plaground objects.

The puppies of Ragdoll are born with the white hair and the nose, ears and palms of pink color. From the 1st week of the birth, begins to define its color, which will be confirmed to the 3 or 4 years of age .

Description

It is a cat of long, robust and muscular body. One is generally a great cat. Its total growth is reached between the 3 and 4 years of age having been able the 90 males to arrive to measure cms and to weigh between six and eight kilos (10 kg some American lines), and the females, between four and six kilos. Its head is wide and in triangle form, with a flat surface between the ears; cleared nose and a developed affluent chin. The skull is flat. The ears are of medium size, wide, of ends cleared, separated and inclined forwards. The eyes great, are made oval, very separated and blue. The superior corner must be aligned with the base of the ear (these eyes in oblique direction mark the difference with races like the Burman). The neck is short and muscular. Legs so large medium, the advantages slightly shorter than the later ones. Feet with great and round claws, places setting and plenty of hair between the fingers. The tail is long and tupida.Las layers exist 3 varieties: Colorpoint: Mask, ears, legs, tail, nose and pads in Point color. Mitted: Seemed to the previous one, except the chin that is white, a white manchita in the nose is permissible and white belly, white gloves in the front and dull legs in the back legs. bicolor pencil: It is characterized to have a "white V" inverted in the face, front legs and back white. Points of color in ears and tail. Nose and pads are of pink color. As far as the colors they can be; Lilac, blue, seal and chocolate.
